SOCAR Georgia Petroleum LLC (Daughter Company of SOCAR in Georgia) expands its petrol station network operating under "SOCAR" brand. On July 29, two new petrol stations corresponding to the modern standards were launched in Tbilisi, and one "“ in Kvitiri settlement of Kutaisi district. The event was attended by head of SOCAR"s Georgian representation, SOCAR Energy Georgia management, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Georgia Mr. Consequently, the number of the petrol stations operating under "SOCAR" brand has increased up to 40 stations in Georgia
On July 27, the well No 2271 from the platform No 1887 in "Oil Rocks" field was put into operation. The daily production of the well from depth of 2570-2590 meters from Girmakiustu Suite makes 65 tons of oil. The well is drilled by "Bayil Limany" Offshore Drilling Works Office of the Complex Drilling Works Trust.
On July 26, fire blazed up in the tank No 140 in Baku Oil Refinery named after Heydar Aliyev at about 11. 05 am. In this connection, firefighting service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations arrived at the scene and the fire was extinguished at about 12. 50 am. No victims were registered.
On July 23, License awarding ceremony of SOCAR-TURCAS JV for construction of a refinery in Izmir issued by Turkish Energy Market Regulator and press conference were held at Rixos Hotel in Ankara. In his opening statement the Executive Director of SOCAR-TURCAS, a board member of the Petkim Petrochemical Complex Kenan Yavuz said that the new plant will be built in the area of petrochemical complex Petkim in Aliaga in Turkey.
After starting its operation, the plant will employ about 1,000 people EPDK head Hasan Koktash emphasized that for the first time the Company applied for licensing in December 2008, and it was granted on the basis of comprehensive analysis. Afterwards, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Mr. Taner Yildiz gave information on Azerbaijani-Turkish relations, Azerbaijani role in energy security of Europe, and successful cooperation between the two countries.
At the end of the speech, the license issued by the Turkish Energy Market Regulator was presented to the SOCAR President Mr.
Rovnag Abdullayev by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Mr.
In turn, SOCAR President Mr.
Rovnag Abdullayev presented honorary token to the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Mr.
The event was followed by a press conference and was attended by MPs of Turkey.
On July 20, SOCAR management met with the delegation headed by Mr. Paolo Scaroni, CEO of Italian Eni Company at the Head Office of the Company. The delegation was comprised of other officials including Leonardo Bellodi, Daniele De Giovanni, Ernesto Ferlengi and Erika Mandraffino. By greeting the guests, SOCAR Vice-president on Investment and Marketing Mr.
He emphasized successful operation of "Saipem" Company in Azerbaijan and efficient cooperation with SOCAR Last month the delegation head by Vice-president of Eni Company Mr. Daniele De Giovanni visited SOCAR, and the two companies had discussion on interested issues. SOCAR representatives expressed their assurance that the meeting with CEO of Eni Corporation Mr.
Paolo Scaroni and other officials of the Company will contribute to the development of mutual relations as well.
They mentioned that as the result of works carried out within "Shahdeniz", "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli" projects and at the fields independently operated by SOCAR, oil and gas production in the country has reached the highest level.
Besides, the guests were broadly informed on export oil and gas pipeline system and its successful operation in the country.
The meeting covered possible cooperation opportunities between SOCAR and Eni Corporation on oil and gas operations carried out in the Caspian Sea.
SOCAR and BOTAŞ held talks on the construction of a natural gas pipeline between Turkey and Azerbaijan within the framework of the visit of Turkish delegation headed by Mr. Taner Yildiz, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey to Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic. During the negotiations, the parties agreed that the two companies shall jointly implement the construction of an interconnector pipeline from the Republic of Turkey to the Turkish/Azerbaijani border on Nakhichevan, for SOCAR investment projects in Nakhichevan. On July 19, SOCAR hosted presentation ceremony of newly appointed vice president and other officials. SOCAR President Mr. Rovnag Abdullayev briefed on the recent achievements, social and economic projects implemented by the Company, and its expanding activities in the international and domestic arena. He also mentioned the importance of strategic development for the Company.
Tofig Gahramanov was appointed to this post under the Order dated July 2, 2010 of the head of country SOCAR President congratulated the vice president on this occasion and wished success in his future activities. Afterwards, Mr. Abdullayev talked about Company"s special attention to the development of the modern information technologies, especially to introduction of SAP systems and importance of informative innovations and information safety.
In this connection, Information Technology Department was established at SOCAR Head Office, and Mr.
Ilham Aslanov was appointed as head of the Department.
Adnan Ahmedzadeh was appointed the head of Marketing and Economic Operations Department.
Afterwards, newly appointed vice-president Mr.
Tofig Gahramanov expressed his gratitude to the head of the country for being honored for such confidence and mentioned that he would justify this confidence.
Mr. Tofig Gahramanov, born in 1953, graduated from the Azerbaijan Oil and Chemistry Institute (now Azerbaijan State Oil Academy).
He started activities as an engineer at New Baku Oil Refinery, became head of komsomol committee of the plant for 1980-1983 years and worked as a trainer in Baku city party committee and Nizami district.
Besides, he worked as a deputy director at New Baku Oil Refinery in 1990-1998s, chief of Economic Operations and Investments Department of "Azerneftyanacag" Oil Refinery and Baku Oil Refinery named after Heydar Aliyev in 1998-2006s.
He was appointed the chief of Strategic development of processing Department of SOCAR in 2006-2007s and head of Marketing and Economic Operations Department in 2007.
On July 15, SOCAR President Mr. Rovnag Abdullayev received the delegation led by Mr. Jurgen Fitschen, Member of the Management Board and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of German Deutsche Bank. By cordially welcoming the guests, Mr. Abdullayev pointed out the efficient cooperation between SOCAR and the Deutsche Bank. He mentioned the interest of the international financial institutions on the projects implemented in Azerbaijan even during the global economic crisis by noting the unsecured loan of USD 80 million as an obvious case allocated by Deutsche Bank to SOCAR in 2009.
Mr Jurgen Fitschen, Member of the Management Board and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of German Deutsche Bank expressed his gratitude for reception and mentioned the interest of the Deutsche Bank in the projects to be carried out by SOCAR. Mr. Jurgen Fitschen emphasized the wide cooperation opportunities with SOCAR and the will of the Bank for future cooperation as well.
The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan paid AZN 88 million 690 thousand to the State Budget for June of the current year that is AZN 638 thousand (100,7 %) more against payments for the same period of 2009. For January-June 2010, SOCAR transferred AZN 513 million 972 thousand to the State Budget that was AZN 116 million 949 thousand or 129,5 % more against payments for the same period of 2009. In general, the January-June payments to State Social Protection Fund totaled AZN 61 million 257 thousand that is AZN 8 million 434 thousand (116,0 %) more against the payments for the same term in 2009
