SOCAR’s budget payments for May 2013
SOCAR paid AZN 134 million 41 thousand to the State Budget for May of the current year that is AZN 33 million 452 thousand (133,3 %) more than the payments for the same period of 2012.
For January-May 2013, SOCAR transferred AZN 652 million 912 thousand to the State Budget that is AZN 135 million 123 thousand (126,1 %) more than the payments for the same period of 2012.
Besides, the Company’s payment to the State Social Protection Fund amounted AZN 13 million 326 thousand in May. As a whole, the January-May payments to State Social Protection Fund totaled AZN 63 million 390 thousand.

SOCAR hosts Spanish delegation
On June 11, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev received Spanish delegation, being on a visit to Azerbaijan to attend the Azerbaijani-Spanish business forum.
Welcoming the guests, Mr. Abdullayev pointed out the importance of such meetings in the development of bilateral relations. Expressing gratitude for reception, Rafael Aguilar, director of the Division for Export Initiation, Implementation and Business Cooperation of the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX) said various companies represent energy, petrochemical, engineering, and other spheres within the delegation. The guest introduced the delegation members to SOCAR President. The guests informed on spheres of activity of the companies they represent and expressed will to cooperate with SOCAR.
SOCAR President responded the questions of the guests regarding regional and global energy projects implemented in Azerbaijan. He noted the participation of the representatives of Spanish company Technical Reunidas, which won the tender for construction of STAR refinery in Turkey. SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev stated of great prospects of Spanish companies’ participation in the largest Azerbaijani projects for coming years - development of Shah Deniz-2 gas condensate field, construction of Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park (SKSP) and new oil & gas processing and petrochemical complex (SOCAR OGPC).
Mr Abdullayev indicated the profitable business and investment environment in the country and full legal protection of investments.
SOCAR: It is possible to supply gas to Armenia
Armenia’s non-constructive position so far, being in case of military conflict with Azerbaijan, has led the Armenian people to a pitiable state.
Azerbaijan holds a rightful place among the exporters of natural gas. Azerbaijan plays an important role in supplying gas to Georgia and Turkey and is cooperating intensively with the European Union for the implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor project, which is of essential role from the point of view of strengthening the European energy security. The Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline project (TANAP), proposed by Azerbaijan, has already gained the attention of the international community as an essential element of the Southern Gas Corridor.
In this connection, the first successful steps have been made in terms of effective cooperation of SOCAR with Turkish companies. The Shah Deniz Consortium is about to make a final decision within the concept of the EU energy security on the pipeline route through which gas will be transported to these countries.
From a geographical point of view, Armenia is a neighbor of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan has always lived in peace and prosperity with neighbor countries in this geographical area and demonstrated this to the world throughout the history. But Armenia chose the way of separatism and aggressive nationalism, used the policy of aggression and occupation. It occupied a significant part of Azerbaijani ancestral lands. As a result, more than one million Azerbaijanis were forced to leave their homes.
2.8 mln tons of Azerbaijani oil transported via BTC in May 2013
2 mln 865 thousand 14 tons of Azerbaijani oil was transported via BTC main export pipeline in May 2013.
During January-May of the current year, the volume of the exported oil from this pipeline totaled 12 mln 636 thousand 425 tons. In general, 218 mln 263 thousand 150 tons of oil has been pumped to BTC since the start of pipeline exploitation until June 1, 2013.
In addition, 279 thousand 989 tons of Turkmen oil was pumped via BTC in May 2013
